Boone Drug Grill & Soda Fountain - Downtown
The Boone Drug Company is an important part of the history of downtown Boone North Carolina. It was founded by Dr. George Kelly Moose in 1919. The dining room in the back was appropriately named, "Joe's Bald Room", after Boone Drug's fourth co-owner, Joe Miller who was born in a car in front of the store. This location of Boone Drug is located next to the Earth Fare Supermarket near Appalachian State University. The Hill Top Drive In started as a snack bar in 1958 and became a drive-in in 1966. Troy's 105 Diner - Hwy. 105 near the Boone Mall
Formerly Mel's Diner, Troy and Sandy Bryum purchased the diner in 2005 and changed the name in 2006. Troy, the chef, has a notable background in food service in the High Country area. According to their website (see link below) he has worked at Eseeola Lodge, Elk River Country Club and was the executive chef at the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center. More Information:
