2007 Boone Christmas Parade

Saturday December 1 was a day filled with activity in downtown Boone North Carolina. When the Appalachian State Mountaineer Football team beat James Madison University in the first round of the Football Championship Subdivision on November 24, their next game against Eastern Washington (which they won 38 - 35) was scheduled for noon on December 1 at Kidd Brewer Stadium in Boone. The town had to move the starting time of the Christmas Parade to an early and brisk 9 a.m.

But the crowds gathered early at the Boone Drug Store downtown and found the best places to stand for the parade. Parade entries included the Watauga County High School Band, Daniel Boone, Santa Claus, Mrs. Watauga County and many civic, church and business groups. Entertainment was also provided by several groups of cloggers.

The day started with beautiful blue skies and cool temperatures. Many people gathered on the sunny side of King Street in front of the Jones House Community Center across from the Boone Drug Store.

The Grand Marshal was the Watauga County Library celebrating 10 years in its current location. The staff of the library invited the public for a reception after the parade. Even Santa showed up.
